Employment Issues

Our organization does not presently have resources available to offer legal advice regarding employment. For good legal advice, contact an attorney in your area who specializes in Employment and Disability Law. Please take a look at the Disability Rights Guide before contacting us for help.

If you have been discriminated against at work, these issues are dealt with by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and they are available on the web at www.eeoc.gov. It is usually a good idea to have a free consultation with an attorney who specializes in Employment and Disability Law prior to contacting the EEOC, but you may contact them directly for their immediate assistance in filing a charge of discrimination based on your disability.

Housing Issues

All Other Issues

Please take a look at the Disability Rights Guide before contacting us for help. It is very likely that we are not the best initial contact to meet your immediate needs.

Financial Help

We receive numerous requests, both by telephone and in writing for financial assistance. We refer all such requests to either your local Independent Living Center (listed in the phone book of most major cities under INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTER). ILC's have access to resources available in your state, we do not have access to these resources, so your call to us will likely result in our referring you to your local ILC.

Well, what can you do for me:

We function as a resource to help you find other resources, and we also work very hard in helping our society develop forward-thinking disability policies.

In 1993, we were honored by the Computerworld Smithsonian for heroic achievement in information technology. In 1999, we were partners with the U.S. Census and helped to insure that people with disabilities were not undercounted in the census.
